A Little Nantucket Love
Tuesday, July 10, 2012
For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of visiting Nantucket, here's a little more detail to help y'all understand why I love it so much. For starters, it's a small island just south of Cape Cod, 30 miles away from the mainland. It's secluded and tiny - there are only about 10,000 year round residents that live here (but in the summer months the population goes up to about 50,000... step foot on the island in the summertime, and you'll see why). Back in the day it was a huge part of the whaling industry, today it's known more for true East Coast style (Nantucket reds anyone?), performing arts, Bartlett's Farm, fantastic beaches, and amazing seafood (two words: CLAM CHOWDER). This is one place to put on your bucket list of places to visit before you die - with its rich history and relaxing nature, it's the perfect place to visit when you just need to get away from the world and disappear into quiet bliss for a while.
